Tesla Cybercab: price, specs and release date
What is known about the Cybercab’s price target, EPA-reported specs, production and service so far, and what owners still don’t know.

The Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-built robotaxi: two seats, no steering wheel, no pedals. Here is what is known about its price, specs and timeline as of October 2026, and what a future owner still can’t plan around.
Price
At the unveiling in 2024, Tesla said the Cybercab could cost less than $30,000. That is a target. Tesla had not published a confirmed price, or terms for buying one as an outside owner, by October 2026.
Specs, from EPA filings as reported
- Two seats and butterfly doors, with no steering wheel or pedals.
- A single front motor and a battery of about 48 kWh.
- An adjusted range of roughly 290 miles.
- A low curb weight for an EV, with a small payload for passengers and luggage.
Release date
- Tesla said in its Q1 2026 update that Cybercab volume production would start in 2026.
- Tesla also said that once in production, the Cybercab would begin to replace the Model Y in its own Robotaxi fleet.
- Paid Cybercab rides started in Austin in September 2026, through Tesla’s Robotaxi service.
What owners still don’t know
- Whether, when and at what price individuals or fleets can buy one.
- The revenue split if you put one on Tesla’s network.
- Tesla’s maintenance schedule for it.
Because the Cybercab can only drive itself, it earns nothing outside a robotaxi network. Compare it with a car you can buy today in Cybercab vs Model Y for a robotaxi fleet, and test different vehicle prices in the earnings estimator.
